What I done did in March 2022

I read so many Pokemon books

Recovered from COVID

At the end of February I ended up getting COVID after avoiding it for almost two years and it took me a good couple of weeks to recover after getting past the initial symptoms.

I’m really hoping that I don’t have to go through that all again but due to a mix of “things opening back up” and another spike starting in the UK I think it’s likely I will.

LeedsJS

Video of drone flying

The second LeedsJS since lockdown happened in March and saw some great talks about Remix and using the DJI Tello SDK to fly drones. It was great to get back into the meetup scene and I’m looking forward to may when both LeedsJS and Ministry of Testing Leeds should be holding meet ups again.

Did a little flat hunting

In 2020 I almost bought a flat but was unable to get a mortgage due to banks upping the deposit requirement from 10% to 15%. Since then I’ve been saving up and now meet that requirement so I’ve started looking again.

I had originally put off house hunting due to a potential move to Denmark this year but Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and it’s threats towards Finland and Sweden have made me second-guess that plan.

So far we’ve seen some great flats in Shipley which while not in walking distance from my job like the current place we rent is it’s only 20 minutes train into Leeds and the space available in that area is really good for the price.

I’m hoping once I start looking at things seriously to apply some of my technical skills into running or building a tool to analyse the best areas to buy.

Took a break from Reciprocal.dev

While I was wiped out from COVID the workload from my day job also increased and that left me with little time to put towards what I was working on with Reciprocal.dev so I decided to take a break instead of attempting to keep it up and burning out.

I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things in a month of two when the day job dies down.

Finished reading all of Pokemon Adventures

At the start of the year I set myself a goal of reading all the Pokemon Adventures manga with an aim of reading a chapter a month but after realising how hard it was to get hold of all the books I ended up bulk buying them.

Once I had all the books I then ended up bulk reading them because I realised that my year goal was well within my grasp so I ended up reading multiple chapters per day and really enjoyed the storyline.

And now I don’t have a year long goal hanging over my head I can focus on completing other ones.
